Death Is Imminent
returnAug 1, 2026
I watched a video from one of my favorite podcasters sharing that he was diagnosed with cancer & has about a year to live.
Ngl, it fucked me up.
No drugs. No drinking. No substance abuse. Yet he's prepping his wife & 4 young kids on a life without him.
We're taught that if we put good into the world, the universe pays us back, sometimes tenfold. Cap.
There's no agreement to be had between us & the universe.
Rich or poor. Healthy or sick. Young or old. Nobody gets the opportunity to negotiate for more time with tokens of goodwill.
What hit hard the most, though, wasn't his diagnosis. It was how he accepted it.
He used the worst moment of his life to express gratitude for the life he lived, the people around him, and the mission he'd devoted himself to.
Made me realize I'm wasting my time.
Vitality isn't found in comfort, it's found in the pursuit of something worthy.
The fruit I seek isn't the destination, but the labor of serving something bigger than myself.
If death knocked on my door, I'd be happy with how I got here. But not happy with what I'm doing here.
I'm simply playing too small.
"Live like you are living. Try to take over the world. Try to accomplish everything that you can. Don't let death catch you unprepared."
