You Don't Matter.

The most important question you can ask someone is:

"Tell me about yourself."

How we identify ourselves is what delivers meaning to our commitments and shortcomings.

Identity is the costume we wear so the world tells us we're important.

"I'm from New York."

"I went to an Ivy League."

"I'm a Muslim."

"I'm a father."

Quiet casts that give us somewhere to belong.

Something to contribute to.

Something to align ourselves with.

Importantly, something to believe in.

The innate human desire to matter has enslaved us to identities we mistake for ourselves.

Yet, identity is as malleable as the world we ask to affirm it.
